Neither Snow Nor Wind Shall Hold Us Back!

CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL OUR FINISHERS!!!

Today was a great run!...especially the first 5 miles with the wind at our backs!!!

But how about that wind on the return trip--man, that was awesome! The only thing that could have made it more exciting would have been if we had been running uphill into that wind...whew! (actually JBird,Su, and I got a little taste of it our last 2 miles---fun stuff).

Let's hear your thoughts!

I tried to keep my complaining to a minimum yesterday but I'm not holding back here. It was cold and windy! The worst part is that the misery still isn't over. I am sore today! I am definitely stronger for having lived through that sucky run yesterday. The Dear Lord Baby Jesus isn't speaking to me yet...time will tell.

Interesting how we could have changed our running outfits about 10 times due to changes in weather and wind. I feel good. I enjoyed running with you guys. Thanks for having me.

I felt great until about mile 10. Legs started getting tired. The cold was getting to my bald head and I just wanted to be sitting in my couch. As far as running in the wind, it pretty much sucked. Wind is good for nothing. I tried to keep the complaining down to a minimum as well, but wind sucks. I'm a little sore in both knees this morning. Pretty normal for my long runs. Other than that, it was my longest run ever and I feel great about that. See you next week.

So even if I had caught up with Ben and Becky, I wouldn't have been able to see them with snow & wind in my face. Had to literally stop in my tracks and get my bearings a couple of times. Did not like being alone on that last 3 miles yesterday! Dennis' wool socks came in handy on my hands-thank you Dennis...I promise I'll wash them out good :)
But, I did it! Ran 10 miles, my longest run yet. I feel good today. Not as sore as last week. I now know that if I can run 10 miles, I can definitely run 13.1--feels great!!

great report Helen...often during a marathon, you will find yourself running alone...and you will find yourself having to draw DEEP for the strength to go on. you made a significant deposit in your endurance bank yesterday...should you ever have to draw on it, you know it's there.

Same goes for the rest of you...

Well, I guess I'm glad that I stopped at 8 yesterday. The last 2 miles into the sideways snow sucked & left me yearning for the finish line. I was mentally drained at the end, but after I felt fine for the most part. I was pretty hungry so I had my powerbar, followed by coffee & wings. My legs are a little bit sore today but not as bad as last week & in a different spot. I feel fine for the most part & am a little surprised that it went as well as it did.
